Hymn of the Forgotten

Hymn of the Forgotten

A Poem by Tomislav Petricevic
"

This one has been giving me troubles for the last couple of days.

"

We are the shades of a past forgotten,

Living with blades upon our necks,

Under the dominance of ethereal magic,

Drawn into schemes with knives in backs.

We are the whispers in the silent darkness,

Fighting for a way to raise our voice,

Suppressing the captivity of our minds,

Hoping for a glimpse of awaited rejoice.

We are the winds from a better world,

Trying to envelop others in gust,

Fully aware that refusing to unite,

Will only move nothing but dust.

We are the dreams of a future so bright,

Since living in reality can be so cruel,

Still we hold the world in our hands,

Because the world is rightfully ours to rule.

Holy bejesus, Tom, you wrote the perfect hymn for a revolution!!! This has some real strength behind it. I see a movement against those that oppress either with words or actions, for those who fight for the right to be themselves, not copies of everyone else. That's what I got from it, what you intended meaning was is your own, but I really enjoyed. Thankee.

Magnificentally written.
The pattern, the words, the connection.
Sensational really!

we... seems like ghosts, those that have passed on. "We are the whispers in the silent darkness, Fighting for a way to raise our voice" Sounds to me like spirits walking among us, trying to call out but the living not being able to hear them. Love the poem. Its so beautiful and haunting no matter who "we" is.

I think "we" is either the overpowering past of a person..which controls a lot of our present and future.. Or it is perhaps those religious preachers, who think too highly of themselves, and create a havoc in the minds of the innocent people.
There is a good chance that i am wrong :P

Anyway! A superb poem.
I love the sarcasm and the tone of the poem.
A very well written piece.

i think "we" are the people who others think are useless or stupid or whatever (the "loners", "emos", etc.)... the people who see how the world really is and try to change it but they always get pushed away.... They try to fix things or show the others that the world is so damaged but no one ever listens to them.... who do you think they are?

This is a great poem, I really like it. I imagined the "we" to be the inhabitants of the earth, but I definitely could be wrong.
