The Forest Elf Chronicles: The Sixth Scroll

A Foreboding Mist

I found Lord Araceae on the damp ivy clad citadel tower balcony

From his disposition there was no doubting something was amiss

Intensely starring into the forest, engaged in deep and serious thought

I need your help Leif” he said, “please assemble the senior Mystics”

Rowan T’Rees nearby, nodded in acknowledgement of my presence

Then spoke saying, “I will meet you in the Great Hall with the Defenders”

And as we briskly strode back into the ebony panelled hushed corridor

Silence was broken by the vexing utterances of Princess Tacca Chantrier

Disturbingly her trance state precognitive visions were more recurrent

Rowan momentary looked towards me with a gaze of grim astonishment

But we did not break our stride, as the matter at hand was very urgent

An anxious aid of the Princess closed the door to her apartment as we passed

When all were assembled in the Great Hall, with its quebracho pillars

Majestic in stature, adorned in gold leaf, silver and royal silken curtains

The most high of the Elder Edit Scribes, Elf Elvion stood solemnly at the lectern

Elf Elvion then spoke, “An interpretation of Princess Chantrier premonition riddles

Has prophesied an ominous malevolence is about to attack our peaceful realm

This forewarning gives us occasion to prepare defences, safeguard and be strong”

Brethren”, Elf Elvion pleadingly decreed, “let us lower heads, place hands on heart

Solemnly lifting our prayers to the Sacred Singularity for protection and triumph

For surely the goodness that flows through Elven veins will overcome adversity”

The prophetic vision of a foreboding evil mist rapidly spread to all the Elves

And as an unseen force, the nature of pending doom increased their fear

This was the first instance anyone had experienced such a testing event

Lord Araceae ordered a Royal Edict; declaring an extraordinary call to arms

Thus Defenders deployed posting around and about the River Of’lyfe’s edge

Dwellings were cleared of older elves and children into the Imperial Citadel

So ensued an unnatural calm, although the foretold prophesy was apparent

Ash T’Rees had taken scouts and lookout Defenders to the Northern region

His instinctive senses felt a cold shadow and then he sighted the spectre predator

Twas the Theraphosa, a goliath arachnid tainted with high poisonous toxins

Considered the most dangerous of legend creatures’ to roam the woodland

Even the mist around could be seen a putrid smudged muted crimson red

With black-green scale skinned body and larger poison sacked abdomen

It had extended legs resembling barb spiked articulated steel tentacles

And several differing size eyes, darting about a double fanged small head

Unmatched Defender runner, Hazel Nutt was sent back to enlighten the others

She could almost taste the foulness of its wicked stench upon polluted breeze

As she quickly sprinted, ironically through the luxuriously beauty of the glade

I was discussion with fellow Mystics when a near breathless Hazel arrived

She reported all that had been witnessed and the placement of defenses

It was very clear to me no customary Defender method could be deployed

Bowman and foot Defenders would be too vulnerable from poison spray

Using the Mystics’ magical gifts is the most adventitious approach to employ

Seeking assistance from Rowan T’Rees and the Great Eagles, I hatched a plan

Having procured strengthened cabling from Hawthorn Spindle’s craft lodge

We intertwined all together into the largest netting the Eagles could carry

Mystics crossed rune sage staffs to empower this mesh with a submission spell

The initiative was to soar high above the Theraphosa’s toxic spraying range

Plunging down to ensnare the beast within the enchantment charged webbing

Thus slowing its progress through the woodland, towards Silvaque Perdendas

I must leave the this task to Defenders, as it is imperative I seek my apprentice

Tales of casualties on the northern front have reached my ears, so I must attend

Holly T’Rees is beside me, her special gifted healing abilities being urgently required

As we approached the northern danger zone the chaos became observable

Contaminated debris drifting down stream on the River Of’lyfe’s fast current

Was causing respiratory issues and seriously effecting Defenders’ eyesight

Spotting Ash giving new orders to a group of Gatherers volunteering support

So left Holly organizing the healing tents, for the sufferers of venomous burns

Camellia Clover and Zinnia Aster joined her to brew herbal medical poultices

Just then, from above, the fervent beating sound of Great Eagles’ wings

Their solid claws gripping enchanted netting flying towards our nemesis

Astride in lead position, Rowan bravely encouraging forward the others

The scene now set for final conflict, testing Forest Elves’ cultural resolve

We now confront what was a prophetic vision, the realism of engagement

So ends the Sixth Scroll chronicles: Leif the Wizard privileged servant

wow, what a task for the defenders to get rid of this poisonous creature without putting themselves in danger. A great plan to attack from above...
