Acoustic Escape

When the rain’s

A tap tap tapping’

‘gainst my misted window pane

And I can hear

The wind ablowin’

Down the old stone chimney again

That’s the instance

I’ll be retreating

To my special personalised space

An’ flipped back

The leather lid

Of my brown worn out guitar case

(*Bridge)

*Escaping to the music is my remedy ... for savin’ both mind and soul

If you’re feeling low give it a try ... you’ll be cured ... believe you me

Gotta comfy stool

To be perched upon

A vintage marshal amp to rest a foot

With a tumbler

Of my favourite rye

I’m all set for improvised blues output

Fret bash a’bending

On acoustic fender

The outside cruel world just disappears

Jamming my style

Van Morrison tunes

Cuts troubles like sharp pruning shears

*Escaping to the music is my remedy ... for savin’ both mind and soul

If you’re feeling low give it a try ... you’ll be cured ... believe you me

Whatever is a’happenin’

Outside my door

My musical interlude will take care of it

For after

A few whiskeys

I can honestly shout I don’t give a s**t

*Escaping to the music is my remedy ... for savin’ both mind and soul

If you’re feeling low give it a try ... you’ll be cured ... believe you me

*Escaping to the music is my remedy ... for savin’ both mind and soul

If you’re feeling low give it a try ... you’ll be cured ... believe you me

... ‘fade’

Blues lover me finds this soo more- ish. Cleverly contrived, fine and - in places, interesting meter. You seem to be gliding ahead of yourself, knowing what you want, somehow upping the piece into a dull-lit smokey kind of.. 'Fade'!

I love this! It is definitely one of my favorites of yours that I've read so far. I love the musicality, the uninhibited expression, the great details of how we all have favorite things that make a creative session complete, whether it be making music or painting or writing. This feels very dynamic & fun! Here's hoping you & your loved ones have a Happy Easter! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I'm not sure I could sing this i am envisioning a low key register. I do miss this land you visit I am a drummer and a singer got no guitarist to write with anymore it is a special place! my last guitarist was a Marshall nut too he was obsessed with the older tube style amps I'm sensing that you might agree on that note. This ditty brings me back to nights i would sing with him for hours into the wee ones only to open my door and find an audience sitting in arm chairs next door listening in as we scratched out melodies out from the back of bunny's cracked mind in other words i enjoyed it

i often escape into music...don't play, myself, but listened well since i was five and got to grow up with rock and roll.
and when i am in a certain mood...love to listen to Van....it ends up putting me "into the mystic"---

This sounds to me like a country tune, a bit more than blues. There are certainly bluesey aspects to it, but I'm picking up a Steve Earle kind of vibe.
I can see it becoming a good song down the line.

Good one, Phill.
