The New Normal

The New Normal

The New Normal

This recent idiom going around

Well it now just makes me chortle

It’s the official’s forewarning blag

They're all calling the ‘New Normal’

Volunteering to utilise mobile apps

Forgoing all scrutinised permission

To show any anonymous individual

All our universally tracked positions

Lifestyles’ certainly will be changed

Restrictions and social distancing

But let’s not surrender our standards

At government planned positioning

All sad socially abridged calligraphy

I thought was ludicrous bad enough

L G B T Q and P fashionable labels

Plus B A M E and odd lettered stuff

In time today’s tribulations will ebb

Then many questions will be asked

If things been done differently sooner

We could have transformed the past

Very nice, Phill! I appreciate your ability to question this idiom, “A new normal”. Your last stanza, “if things been done differently sooner, we could have transformed the past.” Is a really powerful way to end this piece. Thank you for sharing!

I have yet to meet a normal I liked I prefer the abnormal and as soon as you give it an abbreviation I generally recoil also:) what was the norm of the day before the virus wasn't all that great my clever friend just like all of those nostalgic tv shows of the bradys and father knows best back in those nostalgic days of yesteryear racism was the norm and hate for gays and commies and priests didled there flock yeah the normals oh for the normals how about we coin a new phrase the new truths I cant could grab onto that... truth

Let's blame everyone and everything else on the New Normal being necessary for an undisclosed amount of time than the actual one who will admit a smidgen of responsibility....and as Forest Gump would say" and that's all i'm going to say about that!"

great poem.

I say question, question again and if you think you have questioned enough, question once more, you voiced all that needs saying here...such a "new norm" is not to be taken for long term would people realise.
