Witch in the Woods

Witch in the Woods

A Poem by Phoen-ix

Spare me your skeleton key
your oil lamp
my widows peak
In the undying light of uncertainty,
of grave danger and my
lack of dignity
Your presence has been haunting my goulish nightmares of children feasting on bats in the
Louisiana swamp
I've circled mirrors around white chalk
a hundred blessed candles and
sacrificial smoke
a reflection of resurrection
engraved on the attic walls
And the record plays a familar tune
of the Devil rocking back and forth on my front porch
whispering to me through the needle about your malevolent ways
I've got Death on my side while the
Banshee screams the
Oracle's echo
"One day I'm going to die, and
I'm going to take you with me."

This is a poetry worth dying for! I apologize for the late review! But boy, this was a treat! Love the way you expressed the story! If this is the type of imagination you have, Well you are truly a horror artist! Can't wait to see more!

I love the pace, the vivid explosive imagery, the subtle flow the overall wove-ness of it all. intricate, scary, raw!
Thumbs up to you!

That last line is a hell of a warning, twice the drama, a death and then a murder. in all seriousness i enjoyed the mix of horror with some silliness and there is a lot of symbolism here that requires a few readings. a great little biddy this one.
