After the monkeys

Just putting pen to paper

After the monkeys tare me to pieces...
After the wolves devour my flesh...
What will there be left of me?...
Will there actually be anything left?

For my empty heart is drowning in the sorrow from my soul and
I am so desperately trying to remember the last time that I felt whole.

In the darkness you may forget me,
I may mean nothing to you at night...
But in the morning when it is all over,
I'll be the one casting your secrets into light.

Once I gather all my pieces...
Once I mend my tormented mind and flesh...
I will return from the darkness to shine my very best!

wow this was really a great piece! poetry is hard to write, especially rhyming. you did a very good job with figurative language and i love the positivity at the end, saying that you will "shine your very best". the only thing i suggest is simply adding in commas. it runs long a lot. i would love to read some more of your work. keep writing!!!
