So Small

So Small

A Poem by Christoph Poe

She tugged on my shirt,

A child of my kin,

And asked me on a black night

"Are stars people in heaven?"

The stars beamed.

"No," I started and stared.

"We are stars who died long ago.

We are the stars who died

And went to Heaven."

Author's Note

Christoph Poe
So I changed some things up to attempt to make it move more smoothly. It seemed to attract a good bit of attention, so I made things a bit deeper and (I feel) more poetic and questionable. I understand some people get offended by the reality of science, so I apologize if this offends you, however, if you want an argument, you won't find it here.

Thanks for reading!

This I poem is founded on a poetic interpretation of science, which makes it inherently interesting in my opinion. I think we forget (perhaps that's not the right word) that we were once part of a star. Also, I've been told that some Greek philosopher (it was probably Plato) thought that the night sky was a giant black sphere containing the world and sun and moon, and that stars were good souls who broke through it when they ascended. This poem reminded me of that.

:) And why not include science? Like stars, each organism is its own little set of worlds from systems down to the smallest molecule. The more you delve into science, the more you discover the art that is in creation. Science and art - they are never parallel. They intersect.

You just created a piece of art.

wow.
that was good. i like how short it was but at the same time how much it has to say. It almost has a mirror effect to it. you look into one thing but your looking right back another, if that makes sense. Good poem

This was nice. I call poems like this, nonsense poems because they come and go out of nowhere with no rhyme but so much rhythm. I liked it. (:

I really enjoyed this! I love the innocent mind of children and how eager they are to absorb every piece of knowledge they can grab onto. And I love your answer to her; very well thought out. :)

Oh i thought like you were explaining the kid that once we used to be primates and slowly evolved in to a perfect human being. So our primate version has been died long back before and now we are seeing them as stars. :D
Ha ha :D
I thought it as stages of evolution from primates to perfection. :D
Just my imagination.
So i loved it on that basis. :)
Good job ;)

there is much reality in science...and even for those who believe in a higher power, science cannot be ignored...i really like the answer to the question here...we are stars...all with our own degree of light...

nicely done, Christoph!

Just fantastic this piece is. A stunning wisdom here Christoph, the word is "love" ... ;-)

For I was thought the same many years ago, and I'm ever grateful to the one,
who shared this with me. You remind me of it. Thanks for your heartfelt,
and beautiful write. I think you should continue on more poetry.. ;)
