Sleeping Boy

Sleeping Boy

A Poem by Melinda McQueen
"

Inspired by a photo of my nephew.

"

Sleeping Boy… What do you see?

Are you in a dream?

A day complete,

Now you’re fast asleep.

Having played all day,

You have learned new things along the way.

Realizations have brightened your eyes,

And now they slumber for the night.

Sleeping Boy… with eyelashes long,

Do you hear your life’s song?

Though you may not have a clue,

God has a plan for you.

During the day you store up treasures

In which your dreams are measured.

Do they shine a light on wishes you keep?

Do they lull you to sleep?

Sleeping Boy… do you know how loved you are?

That you are a bright, shining star?

Always believe what you seek

And be not afraid to dream.

You have a long life in store

With much to explore.

So, after a night filled with dreams of joy,

It’s time to wake… Sleeping Boy.

A very tender and beautiful write. When you tell the boy, "...be not afraid to dream..." it emphasizes the long life ahead for the boy, many dreams and wishes in his future...let him later learn that not all come true; allow him for now to believe they all will.
Such a warm feeling reading this has given me. Thank you for that! take care...dan

Thank you for reading and leaving your review.
Babies and young children seem to inspire us to write. The innocents of youth and that boundless energy and excitement is so enviable. Beautiful write food a beautiful child.

A very sweet write...makes me wish some of my relatives were younger. Teens are not as sweet as those cuddly little ones. Valentine
