Prayer of Purpose

Prayer of Purpose

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Prayer of Purpose

I lay me down

At Your feet.

Ready to hear

What You have to say to me.

Surrendering all my cares

To the One who listens.

Satisfying my soul;

Prayer of purpose is sent.

For I know my cry You hear

As my heart pours out.

To feel Your glory, Lord, I long,

To love You out loud.

Send Your fire to fall upon me.

O Holy Spirit, who intercedes on my behalf,

Making known my groans.

Prayer of purpose knows no lack.

Let me ever listen

To the still, small voice.

Make me ever alive

To Your dying choice.

Because You died…

I have fellowship with the Almighty who cares.

And because You rose to life…

I know You, Jesus… the purpose of prayer.
