Mountain of Mine

Mountain of Mine

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Mountain of Mine

Seeming to reach to the heavens,

You seem to always win.

Standing in my way

Has been your constant stay.

You think you’re so big,

And you like to get under my skin.

But let me tell you, my dreams, you’ll never hide,

Mountain of mine.

You may tower high,

And appear to meet the sky,

Yet, you have no power,

And ultimately you shall cower.

For you are nothing in in the light

Of my faith burning bright.

Your dark shadows are beginning to subside,

Mountain of mine.

Yes, you are mine

To destroy in time.

You are mine to shrink

By the very thoughts I think!

I actively throw you into the sea

As faith abides in me.

Better yet, you I shall climb,

To show that you’re no threat, Mountain of mine.
