The Inward Parts

The Inward Parts

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Inward Parts

O how many is the sum of them!

The sinews and alleys,

The soothing and irate,

The silent and the deep.

The workings coexisting

In harmony, in perfect rhyme.

How vast the knowledge,

The inward parts sprinting in time.

Thoughts of the brain calculated

As it directs pathways to ignite.

The heart pumps in flow

As it beats day and night.

So much is occurring

Within the human spirit.

The strength, the endurance,

The inward parts adhere it.

How deep is the light,

Shining into the inner man.

The substance only known by the Creator,

To forever stand.

For the most precious things

Are kept in the heart.

The workings of

The inward parts.
