When First I See His Face

When First I See His Face

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

When First I see His Face

O how I await the day

When I see Jesus face to face,

What a glorious time
When time gives way to eternity divine.

What will it feel like?

To stand in His light,

To be utterly surrounded by grace…

When First I see His face.

Will my eyes take a moment to adjust?

Or will I instantly see my Lord in whom I trust?

My words could not praise Him enough,

Even though my voice shall be clearly joyous!

My every pain shall fade,

As will all my sorrows fall away

My heart before Him I lay,

When First I see His face.

Lord of all, He lives in me

And someday I shall go to Him for all eternity.

Where I shall finally stand

In the Promised Land.

May I ever live for my King

Until with angels shall I sing.
O how I will praise His Name,

When first I see His face.
