The Heart Beats its NameA Poem by Melinda McQueenThe Heart Beats its Name
A fiery arrow pierces the heart,
Faithful, it comes calling on all.
Sometimes it seems to take forever
To find its way, a heart.
Other times, it comes not bidden,
The arrow sharp, it settles deep.
Swoosh! and in it willfully goes.
It swells, until it might burst,
Springing to life, feelings seeded inside.
Growing unto fruition, until it births.
When the time’s right, it arrives,
Ever alive, it breathes… it thrives.
At the perfect moment, what nestled,
Comes out into the radiant light.
The heart beats its name…. Love.
