A Light Shone Through the Door

A Light Shone Through the Door

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

A Light Shone Through the Door

A light shone through the door,
still, she was afraid,

Little Mallory didn’t like the dark,
in her bedroom she prayed…

Lord, I’m so scared,

I don’t like the dark.

Please keep me safe,
You’re with me, I know You are!

Years down the road,

Mallory was in college.

Experiencing new-found freedom,
she was living on the edge.

All was going great,
she felt on top of the world.

No time to pray,
she was her own girl.

But it didn’t last,
she had gotten herself into trouble.

Though she cried, she didn’t feel she should pray
after not talking to Him for so long, her thoughts jumbled.

Weeks trudged on,
no help in sight.

Lost and helpless,
she began to pray one night…

Lord, I’m so scared,

I don’t like the dark.

Please keep me safe,

Are you with me? Please let me know if You are!

Just then, upon opening her eyes,
she cried all the more…
as she suddenly saw that
a light shone through the door.

you`re welcome
We all need to see a light at the end of a long dark tunnel dear Melinda, and when we do how glorious that feels after a spell of darkness. This poem could easily apply to depression.
