Refined Unto the Golden Gates

Refined Unto the Golden Gates

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Refined Unto the Golden Gates

Tried unto the holy day,

Put through the fire to purify.

Refined unto the golden gates.

Enduring pressure in ev’ry way,

Coming from all sides.

Tried unto the holy day.

When feeling the weight,

Know that it brings greater insight.

Refined unto the golden gates.

As with fire, gold is shaped,

The soul is to be made ready for the light.

Tried unto the holy day.

To forever remain

Is the promise from on high.

Refined unto the holy gates.

Ready me, Lord… for heaven’s staircase

Is laid with gold divine.

Tried unto the holy day,
Refined unto the golden gates.
