The Inn Keeper

The Inn Keeper

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Inn Keeper

Turned away

Because the Inn had no vacancies.

No room was made

For Christ to be born intimately.

Mary and Joseph were sent away

Where Christ was born,

Nestled in a bed of hay.

How beautiful was the lowly place soon adored?

Let me ever be opened to my Savior,

Who has chosen my heart as His home.

Of this temple, is He the Maker,

And never am I alone.

Of my heart,

And of my mind…

Take control, Lord, banishing the dark.

Be the inn keeper, for You will never turn me away, day or night.

Yes, take complete control,

Take residence in my heart, ev’ry room.

Remove everything that You do not bestow,

Making me brand new.

Let me call upon You,

As You bring me deeper.

Guiding my heart in Your truth,

Be the Inn Keeper.
