My Loving King

My Loving King

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

My Loving King

How greatly Thou has wondrously loved me,

Having known this my sinful heart so well.

Still, Thou searched, pulling me ever to Thee,

Now, bountifully Thy Spirit dwells.

Deeply and fully, strong and steadfastly,

Thy grace has Thou poured into this my soul.
Blessed assurance found the lowly me,

And is now molding me into Thine own.

Less of me, O Lord, pouring myself out,

More of Thee, God, that all Thy will has room.
To shed out Thy glorious salvation

To all who know not that they so hunger.

My praise be unto my Savior in Thee,

How grateful is this soul, my loving King.

well done! our Creator really did mean for us with purpose .. never does God want to diminish our lives .. only to remove so much we place in our hearts that in truth .. does not deliver what we expect .. but the opposite .. i think this poem reflects the deep yet simple wisdom of when a person has the blinders lifted .. and freely gives all up so space is made for our Loving Creator .. well said .. a blessed poem that blesses me a lot this morning, McQueen .. thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your review. :)
"How greatly Thou has wondrously loved me,"

Hmmm...so you and God have been getting it on? shouldn't that be more private?

Give me a break. Dropping in "thee's" and "thou's" to make your work sound biblical? You think God wants to be addressed in stilted archaic language? If you look into it, you'll see that when the King James version translation was made, that crap had already been dropped from general use. They included such language only to sound pretentious. The translation was begun in 1604. But, it's believed that by about 1575 "you" had become more common than thou as an addressing form for second person.

But here you are, over 400 years later, doing the same thing.

And here you are, pretending to bow and scrape before God, as if He reads the posts on Writers Cafe. But he closed his account back in 2013.
