When the Door Flings Open

When the Door Flings Open

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

When the Door Flings Open

The door flings open

And in, he walks.

She can’t believe her eyes,

But there he stands big and tall.

She’s awaited this moment

For all her life.

He’d come just as he’d promised,

And she fully knows that she is the apple of his eye.

She believed him,

That what he said was true.

Now, now… he stands before her,

Her faith is seen without ado.

The great big sky ushers Him.

And she sees Him for all He is.

It is the One in Whom she's waited--

The One her soul does cherish.

How great to see the Promised King

Coming to take her in.

O the joy which fills her spirit

When entering the door her Jesus flung open.
