That Golden City

That Golden City

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

That Golden City

On the trail

To that Golden City.

We’ll get there before we know,

Though long it may seem.

A place of light

Where shadows don’t reside.

All hearts lay bare,

For there will be nothing to hide there.

Pain and sorrow slip away,

Giving place to joy and pure happiness.

O the warmth filling ev’ry spirit--

What bliss!

A call to worship

In open relationship.

By His grace,

Even now we can seek His face.

Washed clean by His Spirit,

Drenched in the Savior’s all-consuming love.

We’re moving along to His song

As He lifts us up.

How amazing is He

Who leads and who is eternity.

Jesus will come bringing peace,

Receiving us into that Golden City.
