~DON'T EVER TELL~

~DON'T EVER TELL~

A Poem by Jillian Alexis

Previous Version
This is a previous version of ~DON'T EVER TELL~.

~DON’T EVER TELL~

Her mother yells from down the hall,

the child's tears begin to fall;

“Don’t make me come and look for you,

‘cause you won’t like the things I’ll do!”

~

And so this precious child of four,

who does not know what love is for;

Climbs out of her Toddlers bed,

kissing her Dolly on the head.

~

Her mommy grabs the child's arm,

a pain that’s felt within her heart;

She throws her daughter on the ground,

the toddler dares not make a sound.

~

Consumed with fear, this child complies,

just as she's done all of her life;

And as her mommy’s hands explore,

she hates herself a little more.

~

“Don’t ever tell what I’ve just done,”

the mother warns this little one;

“Now go to bed,” her mommy screams,

to this little girl I use to be.

THIS BRINGS TEARS TO MY HEART. SO SAD. SAD THAT AS I WRITE THIS I KNOW THAT CHILDREN OUT THERE ARE LIVING IN THESE ABUSIVE KIND OF HOMES AND ARE SO HELPLESS. BUT THERE IS A GOD AND GOD IS GOOD. ALL WE CAN DO IS PRAY. LOVE THIS POEM!

Having grown up in an abusive environment myself this poem kinda brought things back and you're right, there isn't any medication, no kind of therapy, nothing that will ease this kind of pain. The strength that I have is from many years of striving to be different than what I had myself endured from my mother. Granted, its a different form of abuse and a very long story to say the least, but something that will haunt me for as long as I live. Always the questions, always wondering why...someday I may be brave enough to write it all down, but now I simply strive to be the best person I can be. I use my own mother as a template to my life...whatever she would do in any given situation, I do the exact opposite and thus far it has served me well.

brilliant images that strike down like a hammer, especially upon memory if one can relate, definitely written in a way that invokes emotional response. As always, my dear this is yet another masterpiece.
