More Than

More Than

A Poem by Yellow Butterfly

If a poem could be made up
of one hundred words
where does one start?
Poised pen, count to ten
penning down everything
straight from my heart...
Telling you about my day
winter is now upon us...
Suddenly a robin appears
nonplussed and mischievous...
Missing you more than
one hundred words
I’m wishing for a sign...
For you to let me know
you're here and that you
are doing fine...
Closing my eyes as I bid
the robin farewell as he
flies high into the sky...
My wish is for you Dad
on this day today
your heavenly
'One Hundred Birthday'
whilst trying not to cry!

Sad to the core. This was so touching. May you write more and more beautiful pieces to celebrate your beloved, who are bygone but present in your heart. Life is short indeed and it is tough when we are robbed of our beloved.

Having lost my father this hit me right in the feels! As close to my father as I was, I haven't been able to write of him since his passing. I truly admire your strength... and I'm sending you strength and light. Happy birthday to your father as well. Wonderful tribute.
