I understandA Poem by Jennifer Pennington
I'm smiling on the other end
Of the conversation You're screaming Claiming i'm misunderstood That I don't understand I smile and hold you It'll be okay, take my hand I promise you it will all be alright Because I try to make it alright Every day In any way That I can But don't you dare tell me I dont understand... I get your darkness More than you do I've dabbled with the shadows And fought a battle I nearly wanted to lose I know what the black tar tastes like I've tasted it I know what the cold blanket of death feels like I've embraced it I know what heartache can do to the mind And I know what a mind cracking Can do to the body So don't you dare accuse me of knowing nothing I know... I know... I am aware I'm the shepard right now Because I don't want you straying over there I know what's waiting for you It waits for me too © 2018 Jennifer Pennington |
