Lay Me Down

Lay Me Down

A Poem by JillyBean
"

Another old one. This one is kind of odd, considering it is inspired by the 18th century children's prayer.

"

Now I lay me down to sleep,

I hope my secrets you will keep.

The broken glass, my broken home

My demons won't leave me alone.

Daddy won't call, he is dead

Momma stabbed him in the head.

The scream I hear fills my ear

I've got to run away from here.

Let me die before I wake

There's not much more that I can take.

I hold this gun in my hand

I'm sure the world will understand.

I hold the barrel against my head

Pull the trigger and boom, I'm dead.

The blood and gore drips on the floor.

The pain tells me I'm alive once more.

Now I lay me down to sleep

I hope my secrets you will keep.

I will die before I wake

Now there's nothing more to take.

Author's Note

JillyBean
This one is also about three years old, and it has inconsistencies in it, but since it is one of my longer ones, (and one that makes me go WTF?) I decided to post it anyway.
And no, I am not abused in any way at home, nor am I suicidal (I've got meds for that).
