I Have A Heartache

I Have A Heartache

A Poem by Eversea

I have a heartache,

A hollow in my spirit.

Long ago I left a home,

A place with crashing waves and beaches.

There was hot desert sand,

All colours of reds, browns and whites.

There I left behind rainforests,

Lush with the smell of life.

There I left mountains,

That were always in the clouds.

There I left a world.

So now, in a place of solid rock and dry dirt,

In a place of cold snow and all colours of gray,

I weep.

Now all I have is a city,

One of lifeless stone that surrounds me.

Now all I have is flat land,

Bleak with a desolate wind.

Now all I have is heartache.

My eyes search the sky,

Knowing it’s the same sky,

But not believing it.

My breath catches,

My back itches with imagined wings,

And my spirit tries to soar away,

To that world I remember.

I agree that it would be better in poem format, because it does seem very poetic. I particularly liked the line "my back itches with imagined wings. Nice job
