Roll the Bones, Spoken Word

Roll the Bones, Spoken Word

A Poem by Pryde Foltz
"

The poetic tale of infinitesimally small beings and their trip through the universe.

"
Roll the Bones

(Excerpt)

we are the last ones left alive

you and me, and them

encased and calcified

tossed about a vacuum

by a spiral arm with a fascination

for near misses and pyrotechnics

roll the bones; roll the bones

flesh and fur, pebbles and rocks

claws and teeth, fire and brimstone ...

Author's Note

Pryde Foltz
Monsters, Avatars, and Angels contains the short story series Demons, Harlots and Crones, which follows two generations of the Demeere family and its legacy of spite and envy. Included in the series is Demon in High Socks; Holler it out with Lemonade; the Old Lady, Her Plymouth, and Cockroaches; Sex in a Pan; and the Fire Crone and Stone Harlot. Also within its pages are more than a hundred poems exploring the darker side of human nature and its undeniable conclusion. Two Orphan Sparrows, the Devil is a DJ, the Last Striptease, Up From the Roses, and many more titles are found within. Ultimately Monsters, Avatars, and Angels asks the reader to look at the darkness found within herself and by facing it, perhaps go beyond.

What I read and hear, Pryde, is the human mind, restless and curious, thoughts spinning, consuming all the senses can process. We're predators and prey, taking and risking love, full of doubt and all the debris of the past. We're the last ones alive, if only in our minds. A mind-twisting work that leaves the mind even more restless.

Excellent writing Pryde reminding me of reading Rune stones. Roll the stones such a captivating title, so macabre, a lovely piece!

i keep going to the Ancient Egyptians with the cats ...entombed ... the fire breaths danger and mystery and intrigue ... the bunnies surprised me .. such a light touch in contrast to the rest ... but its their steel wool warrens that gets me ... they should be safe there ... but maybe not eh!?

' you have to be known, to exist - judgement is the invisible hand stamp - that confirms dues paid - for acceptance - into the human race - it isn’t success - it isn’t being first - so .. .. '

Such a harvest of words, Pryde - glorious in their darkness but there, hiding behind it is Truth as you feel and see it. And, how you see it - a theatre of happenings, emotions and more for the seeking. Dear goodness, how haunting, how memorable it is, start to finish!
