Come out of Your Shell

Fibonacci is dependable

but he cannot be

           your only guide

1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144 ...

looking to the past

to make sense of the Now

a whole lot that isn't figured

is left out of the equation

you won’t see

what you don’t look for

free your mind

watch new worlds form

tumescent, glowing orbs

orotund affluent flows

let your ideas spill over

                and mould

what comes next

your consciousness

is indefinable

uncountable and unlimited

                     until

you begin to define

count or limit

exoskeletons of knowledge

philosophies, isms, and methods

           incubate and gestate

you are meant to expand beyond

such narrowing parameters

little hermit, come out

or perish under the pressure

of your adopted dimensions

come out of your shell

expand and grow

dearest Pryde... love your encouragement ...
there seems to be a new Horizon... if only we
are open to explore. Before COVID, Roger and myself would spend time
at two Bookstores in Fredericksburg, Virginia, by the Rappahannock River.
Although they were closed until recently-- now people can go in, and wear their Masks at a distance.
So perhaps today or "soon"-- I will go to perhaps "Books a Million" and order your Book... not certain which one, firstly. They are excellent to "Order" for me. Which of your Books would you recommend for me. Of course, I am a Novice; but willing to Learn. I may live to be 97 or beyond. tenderly, Pat

dearest Pryde… it is a Pleasure to visualize your venues… I love the Title “Strays” as it encompasses the most talented of all Spirits. This Christmas was a Mystery of Masked Munchkins who Braved the Outer Limits of Society. Strays entered our Borders and our President flew many of them to States who were unprepared for their arrival… a Jungle-like Swinging Tarzan approach to Surviving. Jane is Vice President and likes the Freedom to Roam and live in Trees. Amen, Pat

You are a "bigger than life" kind of writer, so I know you will understand my frustration that so many writers seem to write within a limited little circle of ideas or words or experience. I wish I knew the secret to urging writers to be more expansive in the way they approach EVERYTHING about writing! Your poem feels very expansive, in all those ways (((HUGS)))

Thank you. I meditate and am a voracious studier. I suppose that helps. I love learning and get tired of writing one way. I guess that has a lot to do with it. i also didn't begin earnestly with poetry until some years had past. They'll get there or get tired and do something else, I suppose. Not sure I will could ever give up poetry now.
