I want to write you a love song

I want to write you a love song

A Poem by Sarah McKeever Hitt

I want to write us a love song
where i frame you in a border that makes you regal
I want people to feel like you are as amazing as I used to think you were
but I am afraid that I can't  do that just yet
because I tend to be moonstruck and blind about you

Perhaps I could lie to my paper via my pen
make you into a dream come true
Sure, I suppose I could  cast you in bronze
But I am afraid that would be in vain
because I know that under it all you are common and bruised

Who cares anyway?
Maybe this world has read enough angst and rage
Truth be told, i'ts me who cares and some days I can't write anything glorious about you.

But I am trying
with all my might
to put it all to rest and write us a perfect love song tonight
