Artificial

Artificial

A Poem by Simon Welsh
"

Please don't take my good thoughts away

"
This night is so artificial and bland
I can't connect with anyone when I feel this low
When the doubt turns to numbness
it's just a sigh heard by no one
Don't pretend, I won't bother you anymore
I know I've probably crossed some line

A shiver down my spine and a plastic smile
cuts my face open for all to see
Why am I not allowed to be happy?
Please don't take my good thoughts away
I don't feel comfortable within my skin
and that''s my problem; not a slight against you

Stale honeycomb patches the street
and my so-called friends ignore me again
I want to express myself so I don't
have to cut myself free of all despair

I think most of us could relate to "friends" like this. The lines "A shiver down my spine and a plastic smile
cuts my face open for all to see" are brilliant. Well done ! Penny
