No Future

No Future

A Poem by Kristen
"

Inspired by the horrible Haiti earthquake, a fictional interpretation of waiting for rescue. Please pray for those who are still missing.

"

As loud as pure silence,

His voice sounds to me in the darkness.

No help, no hope, no happiness.

The rubble covers his body,

Crushing his every breath.

No one seems to care.

The darkness swirls around us,

Never ending.

I drift between life and death.

I call to him,

I cry for him,

But there is no reply.

Finally, the day arrives,

They lift the burdens off me.

But there he lies,

Under the destruction.

A mere lifeless wreck.

The image of him

Never leaves me,

My poor, unfortunate brother.

In my dreams,

His corpse appears to me.

No faith, no face, no future.
