Walking

Walking

A Poem by Richard Dolevin

A boy walks alone in the night,
A night where the moon dances in the clouds
And the stars peek through once in a while
Just to say hello to the boy.
A chilling breeze hits his face,
Messing up his hair.
A blank expression in his endless stare,
He continues to walk.
He yields to nothing, weather nor time
And just then the clouds close on the moon like curtains
And rain begins to fall,
But he continues to walk.
It is hard to tell what falling from his face,
Rain drops or his tears.
He stumbles and falls harder than the rain.
He does not stir at first,
He just cries.
Such a lonely soul, no one around,
He eventually falls asleep as the air grows colder
Only to wake to clouds and snow.
"Maybe tomorrow" he whispers.
He gets up and continues to walk,
Hoping for the sun.
