Heartbreak Trilogy

Heartbreak Trilogy

A Poem by Becca*Type2012
"

Three poems about the brake up of me and my boyfriend. First one is a vilanelle second one is an ode and the last is a free verse.

"
Vilanelle: "The Aftermath"

What can I do to get you to stay?

Why did you leave me?

Will you come back to me one day?

Don’t you remember that day in May,

When our hearts filled with glee?

What can I do to get you to stay?

Too many memories to replay,

Especially that day at the sea.

Will you come back one day?

I never thought you would go away.

You held my heart’s key.

What can I do to get you to stay?

Every morning I see the sun’s rays,

And wish you could hear this plea.

Will you come back one day?

I thought you would never lead me astray,

But clearly you disagreed.

What can I do to get you to stay?

Will you come back one day?

Ode: "Ode to Heartbreak"

Pain is what you bring,

And all the emotions that come along with it.

Anger, disappointment, disbelief.

Days, weeks, months, years wasted.

You have ruined my happiest moments,

And turned them into nightmares.

This infuriates me!

Why do you do this?
Nothing is the same anymore.

Laughter changes to tears.

In a second, in a millisecond, in the blink of an eye.

You have taken everything.

My hopes, dreams, desires- gone

Because of you.

Everywhere I look I am reminded of you.

Why won’t you just leave me alone

And go away for all eternity?

I don’t want to be reminded of you anymore!

Pain is what you bring,

And all the emotions that come along with it.

Free Verse: "The Realization"

Many months have passed,

Since that fateful day.

The day you said:

“Its time to move on.”

Moving on is never easy.

I’ve done everything

I could think of,

But you are still on my mind.

I’ve ripped up pictures of you,

Thrown away your gifts,

Deleted you from my phone,

But the memories are ever present.

I have been depressed for too long.

I don’t want to be miserable anymore.

I’m sick of it.

There are new memories to be made-

With new people

And at new times.

Embrace the past for what it is,

But don’t dwell on it.
