Close Your Eyes

Close Your Eyes

A Poem by Rachel Joyful

Close your eyes and feel the pain,

let it ignite inside your veins.

It's okay, it's alright,

please just stop for a moment, you don't have to fight.

Close your eyes,

close your eyes.

Feel the rain upon your skin,

just for a moment and then let it in.

The dew of the earth greets you greatly,

hear its voice, as it whispers softly.

Close your eyes,

don't you see, it's the deepest part of being free.

Close your eyes,

for a second,

a second more,

did you hear that, the closing of a door,

to someone's heart, closeby?

Listen,

listen,

close your eyes,

darling, you don't have to cry.

Just take my hand,

and we'll make a stand,

as the whole world watches around us.

But swiftly, swiftly,

like the ground beneath us,

run, run,

run away.

Breathe,

breathe.

Close your eyes,

close your eyes.

Oh my child,

you don't have to hide.

Close your eyes and feel the earth,

as it gathers much more dirt.

Close your eyes,

close your eyes.

Breathe,

breathe.
