Autumn 2020

Autumn 2020

A Poem by Rachel99

Brightly coloured leaves blanket the ground,

The dark frosty night, nips at my skin.

To my friends I am bound,

As we discuss events from that very night " I cannot contain my grin.

Safety, I am given,

As a wave of artificial heat strikes me,

Internal warmth is not hidden,

The comfort of seemingly endless mugs of tea fill my memory.

My surroundings contrast with our natural planet,

Without our differentiating climate,

Monotone, we would remain.

Our ever-evolving seasons protest against boring and plain.

But Autumn is under-appreciated,

And commonly mistranslated,

As he isn’t a thief who deprives us of light,

Instead he provides an essential transition " sparing us of fright.

A lover of autumn in spring indeed. A defender of autumns honour in rhyming verse who describes the beauties of the kaleeidoscope of colours she brings forth. Nice images but I will not give thought to it till I have first enjoyed the spring and summer. So Autumn 2020 can wait!
