Spinning Summer Horizon

Spinning Summer Horizon

A Poem by PianoandPage
"

Sept 11th, 2009 I was in a rollover accident on the freeway and could have died. I wrote this and completely forgot about it. I recently found it.

"
flocking birds caught
static in my skin
grey geese against
an ivory sky.

memories of metal
crunching and a
spinning summer horizon.

windows exploding
into fractal diamonds
sparkling brightly
against black asphalt
inverted above me.

seatbelts paralyzed in shock,
holding onto me for comfort;
i sat suspended and watched
cars empty out on the
halted highway.

people watching,
a few stooping down to
tell me it was going to be ok.

the realization
the chocolate milkshake i got
from wendy's was now everywhere
dripping from the caved in windshield
to my arm.

cold and hot textures running down my veins
mixing to the shade of a hidden bruise.

Excellent. This is the first poem I've ever seen like this, and it's terrific. Not a terrific experience, of course, but the way in which you tell it.
