Drive

Drive

A Poem by Carissa
"

I was on my way home from work today and the words just started coming to me while I was listening to the radio....

"

Drive

The world has gone crazy,
And, I think we need to get away,
Just you and me,
Let’s pack a suitcase,
And, let’s just take off,

The open road,
Let’s fly far away from here,
And, see what lies ahead,
No looking back,
Not this time,

Life is a journey,
Always changing,
I’m tired of feeling stuck,
I want to feel the wind in my hair,
And, live a little for the first time,

The open road,
Let’s fly far away from here,
And, see what lies ahead,
No looking back,
Not this time,

Let’s see where the road takes us,
Going 65mph,
With the radio playing,
Singing and laughing all the way,
Let’s keep going till we run out of gas,

The open road,
Let’s fly far away from here,
And, see what lies ahead,
No looking back,
Not this time,

Take a good look around,
City lights surround us,
We can make a new start here,
Just you and me against the world,
Till we’re ready to drive again,

There’s no need to stay in the past,
Look ahead, baby
You and me,
We’ve got this,
On this journey they call life,
We have the keys,
And, our lives are what we make it,

The open road,
Let’s fly far away from here,
And, see what lies ahead,
No looking back,
Not this time,

Not this time,
No,
Not this time.
