Let Me Be Alone With Me

Let Me Be Alone With Me

A Poem by Rain
"

I love life/I love people. When alone I think of both. The noise of life can be overwhelming. It is in solitude I can see and understand things more clearly..

"
i wish i was
a bird with wings
to sail above
everything
high above
the homeless camps
broken people
exit ramps
take my chances
above the clouds
look down upon
the weary crowds
let me glide
above it all
the greed and hate
the shopping mall

because i don't need a lover
i don't need a friend
i don't need you to lie for me
hold my hand or pretend
i want to ride upon the breeze
let it guide my destiny
i just need a heart i know
let me be alone with me

i wish i was
a bird with wings
looking down
on wedding rings
pushed in back
of musty drawers
with musty dreams
of moon lit shores
i want to fly
beyond the sight
of everyone
who hurts for spite
above the wars
fought for greed
a world that's lost
it's dignity

because i don't need a lover
i don't need a friend
i don't need you to lie for me
hold my hand or pretend
i want to ride upon the breeze
let it guide my destiny
i just need a heart i know
let me be alone with me

"pushed in back

"a world that's lost
it's dignity"

This sums up the necessity for moments of solitude, to let us get above it all, forgetting all our woes and minor worries and look down upon the world as a whole. Excellent.

The comment about a world that's lost it's dignity is so fitting, one of the reasons we need to escape. Nothing is sacred or private any more.

Well done.

What an exquisite way to describe the beauty of solitude. Such expression is truly compelling. Nicely penned. Wonderful imagery and cadence. Thank you for sharing your talent.

I think many of us writers have these thoughts, to escape the madness of life and just " be", i love the flow and beauty behind your words, the feeling of just wanting peace, the knowledge you know your own heart and feel safe with that.
Wonderful use of metaphors my friend and as always you deliver emotion on depth.

This is one of the best pieces I have read on the Cafe. With your words you have taken me on a heartfelt journey that has deep meaning behind it's narration. The metaphors that you have chosen to use bring a certain insight that gives strength to this piece. I agree that the time we spend alone quietly with ourselves in thought and meditation bring clarity to life. This piece flows so well, its almost like a song. Very Nice! ~ Jude :-)

Solitude can be very gratifying; and escaping from the turmoil here below is at times as necessary as life itself.

A very nicely done piece...flows with time and the rhyming is significant and pleasant.

Nice work...

I know that feeling so well. It is hard to watch those who care go through what they do. I heard a wonderful thing about you, so prayers are powerful things and mine being answered this way is a joy to me.

I feel both empathy and frustration here. "A world that's lost its dignity... " Indeed we seem to be creatures of the flesh more than of the spirit. Broken and lost... but not hopeless.

This is wonderful Rain. Very vivid imagery as I felt myself flying -- rising above the clouds -- soaring over it all -- free.

Lovely work!!
