Velvet Tree Shack

Velvet Tree Shack

A Poem by Ranger Kessel

I like my shoes,

and they like me too

I tie them with screws

and paint them with blue.

There’s a swoosh on the tongue,

and bolt on the heel.

They make me run,

like I’m spinning a wheel.

When I’m on the run

and you’re not so near,

When my ribbon’s been spun,

from my ice chandelier.

They take me back

to my little wing.

To my velvet tree shack

where we rock on our swing.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
I wear a shoe,
you do too.
