Death's Ladder

Death's Ladder

A Poem by Raven Starhawk

From emaciated branches the devil’s fruit plummets

Blood saturated terrain swallows them undivided

Who am I to climb death’s ladder?

Amongst all this distress and torture

Death is the only thing that is certain

The title is outstanding Raven. It brings death right to our doorstep and lets us know that yes, death is the only true thing that is certain. Your words have been chosen wisely and each delivers a powerful meaning from beginning to end. You articulate emotions brilliantly and give us imagery not only to feel but to see your work come to life.

As always a brilliant poem from an outstanding writer!

Even if we think we hold the key, seldom do we..
Reminds me of how frustrating it can be to actually live...we strive and what for?
Death shall always win, wow!
Love this xoxo

Real nice. Lose 'who am I to climb deaths ladder?'. We get that without it.

my fav line- reminds me of something just quoted out of a dark little fairy tale!

Dark, and sad to think that death is the only certain thing in life, but in the end it's true, but hopefully people can find something to live for too! I felt the pain, it really cuts deep.
