Love Isn't Enough.

Love Isn't Enough.

A Poem by Chan

Within these walls,
tears taunt those who dwell inside,
Tearing at hearts,
screaming out at the lies.

Alone in pain,
alone in sorrow,
Torturing emotions,
a neverending flow.

Attempting to stay together,
learning love isn't always enough,
Too different to be together,
unable to be apart.

Knowing no happiness will ever settle,
try anyways for a dream,
Reality rears it's head,
love turns to hate.

Violent fights replace sweet caresses,
hurtful shouts take the place of loving words,
Leaving now will be painful,
staying would only kill them both inside.

wow.. this writer tells us these stories as if she has experienced them firsthand..
another great example of capturing the essence of the situation..
it so so true that love isn't enough..
and what's needed more is a mutual amount of respect and admiration for each other..
i love the diversity of the dream and reality part of this piece as well..
and the explanations of the extremities that exist..

BRAVO!

that is cool and scary-eshh because it's real

oh, i wish i can be there to massage your neck and back and then be gone again in a flash when you fall asleep in warm blanket's serenity and when you arose i was a cat instead(?).. thus not leaving love's initial altogether.. and bringing me back to my independence and non-commitment of singleness once more[which is not as easy as it may seem]

So very true and going from one extreme to the other as you have done her shows your ability in writing a great piece. Thanks very much for sharing with us.

what a torturous poem. and so true. What a perfect description of a dysfunctional relationship. Saying I Love YOu is not enough to stay with someone.....those words are empty as the actions do now show Love.....the actions are more of a mind control and power......great piece

I liked your poem. I like the way it kicks off with strong emotion out of the gate.

Good work.

Jadedsparrow sent this for me to read.. I think I know why. All I can say really is wow, just like the rest of the reviews. The thing is, love should be enough.... Its what keeps us wanting to live...

Wow is all I can really say. You have described my current situation with a startling accuracy. I read this 3 or 4 times, and wept each time I finished it. Very well done.

Aww, this poem is quite emotional with its love-hate vibe.

"Too different to be together,
unable to be apart."

I love those lines right there. Unfortunately life isn't a fairy tale and we have to fight for what we really want instead of having it given to us. Then again, compromising is alwyas an option.

Thanks for this lovely poem!
