Spirant In Anima Mea

Spirant In Anima Mea

A Poem by ReaThoughts
"

A path through my brain.

"

Crawl into my brain

Come keep me company

For it is a lonely world

And am but 1000

Small talk is a futile errand

Insufficient to fill my desolate heart

Teach me how to live again

I crave your effortless bliss

Lay down on my cerebrum

Stay with me a while

You may be disappointed

Honeyed recollections are seldom

Occupy my limbic system

Lounge if you will

Acquaint yourself with my emotions

Share with me what you find

Navigate to my brain stem

Perch yourself above

Take the lustrous dagger

Reap my tortured soul

For it is a lonely world

And I am but 1000

This is certainly a poem that depicts a "tortured soul," you mention in the last line. From the opening stanza we see that the speaker is crying out. There is a feeling of being disconnected, alienated, and disembodied from what should be.

There is a yearning here that reflects a soul lost so long she doesn't know how to relate to simple experiences like love or bliss.

The limbic system, brain stem, and cerebrum all seem like a subconscience search within to a body that's there but missing any of the basic necessities of love or encouragement or even companionship.

Clearly this is a lost spirit in limbo crying out for understanding, yet willing to face death for any measure of peace.

Well done, an interesting poem dipped in emotion and imagination.
