Brother

Brother

A Poem by Wanderlust

Promenading with his goatee and genteel fashion along the buzzing city streets,

Ideas brimming from his verdant mind under dense wisps of mahogany tresses.

Young man of scholar, engaged in doctoral studies.

With hazel eyes always inquisitive and appraising complimented by a tender heart

But thence from his lips words as arid and harsh as the Sahara Desert

Technical prowess and a tenacious spirit

Reading page after page of books of science, politics, economics, and the like

Watering his flourishing vocabulary, progressing his knowledge

Pursuing new experiences like an untroubled explorer

Trailblazing with his ideas in conversations with strangers of all walks of life

No inhibition but full emotional control like a zephyr

Toppling the defenses of his engagers

Like rolling waves blasting sandcastles on a shore at dusk

The quiet residual humming of the scene drifted away.

Like a well-kept secret, glimpses seen from casual slips

As light gleams off of his angles like passing ships

We were born into this world in unison.

But brother, you will always be an engaging mystery to me.
