March, Forever Ago

March, Forever Ago

A Story by RememberAlicia
"

I'm remembering so I can forget.

"
You were standing in front of me when I couldn't see your face. There was a glow from the streetlight but it lost itself, and your expressions blurred. Your eyes began to challenge the night. Black, glinting against black. The wind was cold, and this was a long time ago. I remember thinking about Alaska and wanting to "run, run, run," but really I just wanted to whisper something you would remember. You held me in a little pool of light, and then we moved away. You're perfect. You're perfect. But we're both different now. I have chain links, barbed wire around your memory while mine is lost in the turbulence.
