Corrupted Soul

Corrupted Soul

A Poem by Joseph - Michael
"

A lyric for my uncle, the fallen war hero.

"

*whispering*

i've got something to tell you... if you can hold on...

just hold on as much as you can, hold on...

BAM!!!

I'VE GOT A SOUL, BUT I'M NO SOLDIER

I've Got A Soul, But I'm No Soldier

I've Got A Soul, But I'm No Soldier

I've Got A Soul, But I'm No Soldier

I've Got A Soul, But I'm No Soldier

I Just Wanna Stand Up, I Just Wanna Let Go

You Know What I Mean? Oh, No, You Don't

I Wanna Shine On In The Hearts Of People

I Want A Meaning From Back Of My Broken Mind

These Changes Ain't Changing Me

The Cold-Hearted Boy I Used To Be

More Head Aches, More Heart Breaks

I'm So Much Older Than I Can Take

As For My Affection, It Comes And Goes

Would You Help Me Out?

Yeah, You Know You Gotta Help Me Out

All I Need A Direction To The Perfections

You Know You Gotta Help Me Out, Yeah

I've Got A Soul, But I'm No Soldier

I've Got A Soul, But I'm No Soldier

I've Got A Soul, But I'm No Soldier

I've Got A Soul, But I'm No Soldier

I've Got A Soul, But I'm No Soldier

You Know You Gotta Help Me Out

Yeah, You Know You Gotta Help Me Out

You Know You Gotta Help Me Out, Yeah

You're Gonna Bring Yourself Down

Yeah, You're Gonna Bring Yourself Down

You're Gonna Bring Yourself Down, Yeah

Over And Out, Last Call For Your Sins

While Everyone's Lost, The Battle Was Won

With All These Things That I've Done

Oh, All Of Those Things That I've Done

If You Really Can Hold On

Just Hold On, Oh, Just Hold On

I've Got A Soul, But I'm No Soldier

I've Got A Soul, But I'm No Soldier

I've got a soul, but I'm no soldier

i've got a soul, but i'm no soldier

i've still got my soul, but i ain't no soldier

*long and soft whistle*

Author's Note

Joseph - Michael
This lyric was inspired by the musical scene in "Southland Tales" performed by Justin Timberlake. The song was based on "All These Things That I've Done" by Lukas Rossi which the other version is as well as known for "All These Things That I've Done" by The Killers. Anyway, after seeing that unusual scene, Justin somehow reminded me so much of my uncle.

I like this a whole lot. The repetition of key phrases really drives your point home. "Just hold on" pretty much says it all, 'cause nothing's easy. An honesty to the piece. "You gotta help me out..." what lots of folks are saying, not enough people hearing. I think you did a great job with this.
