Yellow

Yellow

Have you ever noticed the color yellow,
no less brilliant but uncommon.

Have you ever been drawn to a cello,
it's music just as passionate.

Who questions the shape of a tree,
or measures the gravity of a raindrop.

Consider the softer gender

Asymmetric rhythm and variety,
are essence to femininity,
it’s strength not weakness.

There’s no true quintessence.

Nature shapes these,

to individual perfection.

All women bear it's essence
with natures affinity,
beautifully incandescent.

Quintessence: The most perfect embodiment of something.
..Embodiment: the state or fact of being embodied.
.....Embodied: to give a concrete form to or to provide with a body
..........Body: the physical structure

Essence: The basic, real, and invariable nature of a thing or its significant individual feature or features: or the inward nature, true substance
....Nature: the universe, with all its phenomena
....Inward: toward the inside, into or toward the mind or soul

affinity: inherent likeness or agreement; close resemblance or connection.

"A rhetorical question is a figure of speech in the form of a question that is asked in order to make a point and without the expectation of a reply.[1] The question is used as a rhetorical device, posed for the sake of encouraging its listener to consider a message or viewpoint. Though these are technically questions, they do not always require a question mark." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhetorical_question

@Revery: It repeats the suffix. It's literally the same word at the end. It sounds like a mental stutter IMHO. But I get what you're saying about theme. Try a synonym? Probably for "essence'. I love quintessence. It's quintessential to your whole vignette.

Apart from yellow being my favourite colour, always has, always will be: once read that it holds femininity and all its compass points as if in both hands, the one of the mind, the other - the heart. Over the years, have found that near enough true! Coincidentally perhaps, your poem shows 'affinity' with two faces.

'Who questions the shape of a tree, - or measures the gravity of a raindrop.'

What a wonderful thought.....we are all beautiful. Nature shapes us differently and there is not one perfect shape. Rhetorial questions, but they make the reader think...and that is always a good thing. The images you conjure are beautiful. The photo you chose to accompany your words is dreamy! Great package here.
