To each his own

Dave will laugh into the new year,
much beer and money for him to spend and care,
the year had been a great joy,
his princess of a wife even gave birth to a bouncing baby boy.

Sandra plans to go to a party,
she knew she was a true beauty.
For next year to her she becomes a 'big girl',
her boyfriend had better buy her another pearl.

Bayo didn't have much to eat today,
and wonders why for everyday a new problem comes his way,
He had prayed from january to December,
but the year isn't one he wishes to remember.
He goes to get drunk,
and for the new year he would leave it all to luck.

Sarah has been through tragedy,
her hope in God was the only oasis in her agony,
this year she had lost much,
and people wondered why she still went to church,
as she prepares herself for a crusade,
she trusts that next year God will come to her aid.

John had been lazy all through the year,
even too lazy to care,
He had been playing his playstation,
for quite a lenghty duration,
and for next year, he plans to get the latest video game.

TO EACH HIS OWN, WHETHER FAR OR NEAR TO HOME, let us write in a diary: IT HAS BEEN GOD'S GRACE FROM JANUARY.

A superb collection of vignettes here RS.
The religious thread is subtle and yet the stanza that deals explicitly with God has a strong story.

Not all propaganda is bad.
I like your style and will certainly read more of your writing.
