Lifetime

Lifetime

A Poem by Jerome F Knox III pseudonym Nefarious J. Dorsey

I was a tot
When Martin got shot
A senseless crime
Of many to unfold
In my life time

The fight for civil rights
Shined bright
The day Barack was elected
So many things affected
But it was still unexpected
That I would see
A black man running
This country

It never crossed my mind
That this would happen
In my life time

The only thing constant
In life is change
That's why
Sometimes the money
Is funny and the change
Is strange
And you are caught
Between a rock and
Hard place
It takes a life time
To erase and face
The reality
What is will always be?

The minority report
Got caught up in the shredder
Things are supposed to
Be better
But the courts keep
Coming up short
Just
More crimes
I've seen in my
Lifetime

P.S.

Little red robin hood
Left the hood for good
But could not down play
The ways of her preacher
Or her teacher
Cause the only thing
That could reach her
In this life time
Was death
