False hope

I wrote this one after my friend(now boyfriend) told me he wanted to try to start a relationship then got scared and backed out.

I don’t love you yet but I think I can learn

I’m looking to you to show me things can be different

that I’m really worth it.

So take my hand and prove to me that it’s real

show me how to feel.

I lost the inability to feel

And you know just why

But you’ve continued to heal

You patched up pieces of my tattered heart

So now babe don’t tear it apart

I don’t love you yet but I thought I could learn

Now your to scared to try

And I was so ready to put it on the line

This you can’t know and I know

You still say that I’m worth it

But I don’t think I’ll believe it

Now how am I to feel?

But I wanted to learn

I wanted to know that things would be different

With you the chance was worth it.

But now the tides are changing

And I’m still waiting

For you to grab my hand

And prove me wrong

So baby show me that I’m worth it

Even though I’m not perfect

Just say you won’t give up

Just try for me tonight

This was really enjoyable to read. It's full of emotion and thought alike. I love the way you're lines seem repeated, but really weren't. Slowly, through the whole thing, you masterfully deepened the lines. Great read.

I find this poem expressed very well, as it's filled with patience, understanding, confusion, mutual respect, a strong desire to feel affection and loved, and a mutual feeling of need and wanting to give; all elements of a working relationship. This is one of the experiences in life, though, that requires "time" to ripen the readiness. Great write expressing your emotions!
