LuckyA Poem by Rita L. SevI am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it. - Thomas JeffersonLucky had a rabbit’s foot He went nowhere
without it And did he wish on
shooting stars? Yep, no doubt
about it.
In fact, he would
do everything To bring about
success; He hoarded charms
and talismans, To black cats he’d
acquiesce.
He kept his
fingers always crossed, Avoided sidewalk
cracks, Searched for
four-leaf clovers, And pennies? He had
stacks.
He kept a
horseshoe on his wall And claimed no
superstition Certain wealth was
on its way, Despite lack
of ambition
So Lucky awaited his big break With rabbit’s
foot, clovers and pennies Dreaming about great fortune and Wondering why he
hadn’t any. © 2013 Rita L. SevReviews
