Stellar Explorations

Stellar Explorations

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

You know what they say about the unexamined life...

"

The universe within me

is largely unexplored

I’ve concocted constellations

that have somehow gone ignored

The time is ripe to launch a quest

to stars among my visions

where heart and soul and dreams combine;

the best of all collisions

Return to Earth, now satisfied,

my inner world complete,

fortunate to find the ground

firmly at my feet

Your opening line made me think of a very interesting theory that I read some time ago about the human mind/body being a hologram of the universe. Anyway, this one was well put-together. "fortunate to find the ground though... sometimes in my night-time imaginings I wish I could get lost within it all. Good write, though I wish you had continued for a couple more stanzas.

Wow, love the rhyming in the second stanza - it flows naturally. This is a great poem - I think you should make it into a longer piece - could be an excuse to articulate what it is you found on your inner quest as well.

Thank you so much, Tate - I truly appreciate your kind review!
I enjoyed your use of the universe metaphor to express the world within. I was inspired to make your first verse flow better by using 0/0/0/ six syllable meter in each line. Your may have this as a gift. It may be sung:

My universe within
is largely unexplored.
My constellations there
have not been underscored.

Thank you very much, Aethereal.
We are all made of star dust. The table of elements says so. Great poem.

So did Carl Sagan... :) Thanks, Mark!
Every now and then we must soul search so we can analyze is we are the person we want to be... a delightfully spiritual poem.

Ha! "The Truth... is in here!" :)
We need these explorations...
The key is getting back to Earth eventually.
A very nice little trip in thought.
