A Toddler's Prayer

A Toddler's Prayer

A Poem by Rita L. Sev

"

May your nap times be filled

with only sweet dreams

May your walks bring you through

the brightest sunbeams

May you always delight

in the simplest joys

May you dance every day

to the merriest noise

May your cookies be warm

and your milk frosty cold

And may you stay young,

even when you are old

Author's Note

Rita L. Sev
It is well known among my teaching colleagues that I do not have the gift for teaching our youngest students - 3 and 4 year olds. I am much more adept in a junior-high classroom. However, I am always delighted and intrigued by the little ones, so eager and unabashed... This is for them.

Sounds a bit Irish in flow to me only for the children, but your words would be a good wish to anyone. I love the words and thoughts of this piece a great deal.

Thank you, Willard! Your words are much appreciated!
A beautiful prayer. My grandchildren dream of the lake and the parks. Children keep us young and hopeful. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

You are welcome Rita.
Such a sweet piece. I prefer to teach the younger ones, but I now reach adults. Big difference. Lol

Thanks, Robin - I would much rather teach big kids and adults - the little ones are exhausting!
Beautifully said and reads aloud just as nicely...

Thank you, Marie!
i have followed this philosophy forever..."stay young, even when you are old"---

although i cannot remember very well thinking that at 4...but i must have.

such a positive poem.

Thanks, Jacob. The older I get, the more I appreciate the youth in front of me...

Thank you, A.F! :)
That is so tender and sweet... Your soft heart makes you more than qualified to teach them the greatest lesson they need to learn, that humanity starts from within our souls.
